Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly-skilled and compassionate RN to deliver exceptional care in the cardiovascular cardiothoracic stepdown unit. In this role you will provide patient-centered nursing care to patients with heart conditions, myocardial infarctions, heart failure and heart transplantation. What you will do in this role:

• As a registered nurse in this unit you will provide therapeutic care of seriously ill patients for a variety of heart diseases and conditions, including resuscitation.
• You will provide care to patients recovering from coronary artery by-pass procedures, valve repair/replacements, and patients following MAZE procedures, and participate in patient/family education.
• Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, cardiac specialists and patient care staff, you will administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the facility.
• During every shift you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions utilizing our computerized documentation systems.
• When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and much more.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
• 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
