Primary Purpose :

The incumbent is an energetic, self-motivated individual responsible for recruiting a portion of the blood supply by interacting with the community (donors, high schools, businesses, churches, and organizations) to establish mobile blood drives or platelet donations. This position is responsible for partnering with volunteers and creating public relation activities to increase collections.

Essential Functions :

Schedule and coordinates off-site blood drives (approximately 3 months in advance) or platelet recruitment programs at local organizations. Work with Transfusion Medicine leadership to determine the needed inventory levels to maintain sufficient supplies as sole blood supplier to the University of Utah Health System.

Identify, develop and implement creative strategies to attract, manage and retain potential blood drives to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual collection goals. These goals may increase as the health system grows.

Forge strong relationships with key community contacts as well as upper and mid-level executives within business accounts.

Develop a working knowledge of the greater Salt Lake community, its government, demographics, and organizations. Apply that knowledge to all aspects of servicing sponsor groups and the expansion of the blood drive/platelet program.

Maintain detailed records and reports of community relations activities to assure continuity of recruitment program. Appropriately utilize tools, technology, and strategies to enhance customer service, efficiency, productivity, and best utilize corporate resources.

Maintain accurate records to provide tracking and statistical data on drive/program performance.

Ensure that volunteers have sufficient support and supply of promotional materials to ensure a successful blood drive.

Ensure key drive information is delivered to Supervisor and the collection staff in a timely manner to ensure adequate preparation and success.

Maintain an active public information program through personal contacts, public speaking engagements, attending health fairs, zoom/teams calls, in-person meetings, and educational presentations.

Effectively uses electronic and computer tools (Office suite, ITSy) for donor recruitment and mobile blood drive/platelet recruitment activities. Ensures accurate information in the database.

Create and participates in social media campaigns promoting donations, ARUP Blood Services, and sponsor organizations.

Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

Collection goals may be increased quarterly.

Physical and Other Requirements :

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to move between work sites and mobile collection sites.

Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry boxes 10-20 pounds, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Valid Utah Drivers License: 1) No moving violations within the previous two years 2) No alcohol/drug-related violations on record with the Drivers License Division

+ Associates Degree or better in Marketing

Experience

Required

+ Bachelors degree and two (2) years of related experience OR Associates degree and four (4) years of related experience OR High School Diploma and six (6) years of related experience

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills including training and presentation skills

+ Excellent computer skills, (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and knowledge of database maintenance)

+ Excellent research skills the ability to find local company information, create tracking spreadsheets for prospecting purposes

+ Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities with multiple timelines

Preferred

+ Bachelors degree

+ Multi-tasker who is ready for a fast-paced environment

+ Basic knowledge of technology, wifi, mifi connectivity for blood drive clients

+ Deadline driven and excellent attention to detail

+ Exhibits strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and illustrates teamwork with the Blood Services division to help ensure collection goals are met

+ Ability to adapt to change on a continuous basis
