Summary

This position is located on the Forest Service Weber Basin Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Ogden, UT.

The incumbent is responsible for performing duties as a Training Leader for the Culinary Arts skills training program. The incumbent must spend at least 85% of the time leading subordinates.

VideosDuties

The incumbent instructs and demonstrates basic and advanced cooking processes. On a regular and recurring basis leads 3 or more advanced cooking students in the performance of on and off site related projects.
In coordination with the Work Programs Officer and/or Assistant WPO, the incumbent implements a flexible classroom and on-the-job training instruction program.
Incumbent works with supervisor to develop lesson plans, obtaining textbooks and educational materials for use in the classroom, conducting the sessions, evaluating the students' progress and advising and counseling individual enrollees.
The incumbent provides vocational, education, and personal counseling as related to practical, on-the-job experience and monitors each student's progress and handles or reports any issues or concerns that may arise to the appropriate authority.

Requirements Conditions of Employment

Must be a U. S. Citizen or National.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

This is a Test Designated Position. You will be tested for illegal drugs prior to appointment. Appointment and continued employment is conditional on negative results.

Additional information

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) or Reemployment Priority List (RPL): To exercise selection priority for this vacancy, CTAP/RPL candidates must meet the basic eligibility requirements and all selective factors. CTAP candidates must be rated and determined to be well qualified (or above) based on an evaluation of the competencies listed in the How You Will Be Evaluated section. When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100.

Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) provides current or former temporary and term employees the opportunity to compete for permanent competitive service positions. Individuals must have more than 24 months of service without a break between appointments of two or more years and the last temporary or term appointment must have been with the Forest Service. Service must be in the competitive service and have been at a successful level of performance or better. Part-time and intermittent service will be credited only for time actually worked. Non-pay status such as leave without pay is credited for up to six months in a calendar year; anything beyond six months is not credited. Applicants are responsible for providing sufficient information/documentation to determine if the 24 month criteria is met.

This position is not eligible for telework.

This is a bargaining unit position and is represented by either NFFE, AFGE, or NAGE.

Forest Service daycare facilities are not available.
