Operations Electrical Engineer Renewable Energy Operations

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, the Operations Electrical Engineer will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing engineering activities to modernize and optimize renewable energy facilities across the state.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, specification, cost estimation, construction, and commissioning of capital improvement projects related to power generation and electrical distribution systems up to 115KV.
• Prepare and review tendering documents, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and constructability standards.
• Assist operations and compliance teams in adhering to regulatory standards for system reliability.
• Deliver electrical safety training for operations teams and act as a subject matter expert for lockout-tagout procedures, arc flash analysis, and compliance with OSHA standards.
• Support operations teams with troubleshooting and failure analysis to enhance reliability and performance.
• Manage internal and external engineering resources for project development and permitting.
• Collaborate with utility companies to identify and resolve system faults or disturbances.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure work aligns with specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable codes.
• Recommend corrective actions to address any issues during project implementation.
• Apply company health, safety, and environmental policies to all projects, including oversight of contractor compliance.
• Provide cost control and monthly budget forecasts for assigned projects.
• Maintain accurate and organized engineering records for future reference.
• Review and analyze maintenance reports and test results to prioritize work and contribute to budget planning.

Requirements

• Familiarity with power generation systems, including transformers, generators, AC/DC control systems, relay protection, and high/low voltage distribution up to 115KV.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage concurrent projects.
• Effective negotiation skills with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Practical, adaptable, and solution-focused approach to engineering challenges.
• Availability to support operations during power system disruptions and supervise repair activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable but not required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, project management, and basic contract administration.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and NFPA 70E.
• Ability to travel within the state as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other engineering software tools.
• Valid driver's license.

Pay Range: $80,000$140,000 per year, with bonus eligibility.
