Job Summary:
Ascot's Environmental unit is seeking a motivated Underwriting Assistant to work with our diverse suite of "PRIME" Environmental products and experienced underwriters. The Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for supporting the underwriting team and operations with all steps of the underwriting process. The successful candidate will handle the life cycle of an account, including new business, renewals, and servicing of business.
Responsibilities:
Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function
Liaise with Underwriters and Brokers to communicate account status, collect underwriting information, and complete outstanding subjectivities.
Participate in Monthly Renewal Meetings and provide service to underwriters on any specific account-based needs
Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, and binding.
In-depth renewal preparation
Work with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
Ensuring all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time
Collect claims information including loss runs, first incident reports, and other pertinent details for underwriters
Support underwriting management by aggregating production, efficiency, sales, and client data
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree requirement or equivalent years of experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an underwriting support role or comparable experience
Experience with casualty and/or environmental products required
Experience with UW system required, IMS preferred (quote, bind, etc.)
Knowledge of the insurance industry
A willingness to learn and a "can do" attitude
Highly customer-centric both internally and externally
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company. The Compensation range for the NY Metro area only is $70,000 - $80,000
