The Sonographer renders independent professional care to patients as directed b the Medical Staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Hospital.
Works under medical direction where final and ultimate authority, judgment and clinical decision making are the responsibility of the physician.
Must be capable of independent judgment when confronted with acute, critical or life-threatening situations.
Standard practice should require the technologist to proceed alone in administering emergency, life sustaining procedures until such time as judgment making responsibilities ma be assumed by the physician.

Requirements

Must be graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program, Associates of Arts Degree and Registered Medical Program and/or Bachelor of Since Degree
CPR/BLS required
Duties and Responsibilities

Performs all ultrasound procedures
Performs all modalities of Radiology/CT, PACS/RIS, including working with Physicians, Radiologist, and Health Information to make sure that each patient study is read, typed, and on patient record each day
Must be familiar with dosage and side effects of contrast media, be prepared and know standard practice if patient reaction occurs
Starts IVs and administers contrast, must know standard practice if infiltration occurs
Performs clerical duties, i.e.
schedules patients, orders supplies, releases images, etc.
Cleans and prepares room with supplies before patient study and after patient study
Other duties as assigned
