Job Title: Project Engineer

*The PE will own the entire project process, i.e. construction management, estimating, coordinating, etc. & must be willing to travel to other locations for onsite visits.

Type of Role: Contract

Location: Pasadena, TX

Work Schedule: 40's

Education: Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred

Experience: Minimum of 3 years manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience

Position Overview

Our team is currently looking foraProject Engineer in the Chemical industry for one of our clients.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties

Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and manage engineering, design, and construction resources in West Gulf Coast (WGC) Region. Typical project load is between 10-20 projects up to $2MM TIC.
Develop estimates, funding request documents, schedule, and ongoing forecasts for assigned projects.
Ensure all projects receive adequate hazard and safety reviews and that all recommendations are completed in a timely manner.
Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs.
Provide field supervision / support during project field execution.
Manage Project Safety.
Maintain projects on budget and schedule.
Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.
Gain a basic understanding of the operating plant environment, process and equipment.
Understand quality standards as outlined by the company.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)

Minimum of 3 years manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Strong leadership abilities.
Self-motivated and willingness to learn.
High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
Organizational credibility - able to influence business area, engineering and manufacturing managers in decision making process.
Technical degree (Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
Ability to travel 10-20% of the time depending on assigned workload
WGC region includes the company operating facilities in TX and LA.

Safety Responsibilities

Conduct Safety Kickoff Meeting with contractors and operations teams prior to start of project execution.
Confirm contractor is aware of and follows all company Safety and Engineering Standards.
Clearly communicate safety goals 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids.
Complete short-term contractor safety audit forms daily during execution of project.
Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review form daily during execution of project.
Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team.
Lead daily morning safety / toolbox meetings with all crafts.
Report all incidents immediately.
Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages.
Attend and contribute to monthly Team Safety Meetings.

Required Abilities and Conduct

Able to achieve various State mandated certifications (TWIC, OSHA, etc.) and other requirements as may be deemed necessary.
Pass Criminal background investigation. Individuals will be subject to pre-employment, reasonable cause periodic, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.

High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
Demonstrates positive, supportive, and cooperative behavior in interacting with co-workers, supervisors and management.
