Description: A Structural Stress Analysis Engineer (V/ VI) job is currently available at Belcan in San Antonio, TX. This is a direct, full-time position with benefits. Structural Stress Analysis Engineer (V/ VI) - Skill Level Definition

Works independently with minimal direction to lead the development of fundamental approaches to projects and the requirements for implementation.
Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools
Manages work packages by performing in progress and final technical check to conformance to the technical work statement scope, schedule and quality.
Develops technical capabilities within team
Provides functional and technical guidance to all aspects of engineering project management.
Acts as project leader in specialized instances
Effective oral and written collaborative engineering environment communication skills
Ability to effectively present oral and written engineering requirements and results
Ability to work seamlessly in an IPT environment and across facilities and groups
Requires educational credentials meeting the classification standards for engineers and typically a minimum of 10 years' experience in an engineering classification.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis engineering work for larger commercial aircraft primary fuselage structure
Perform detailed sizing and static stress of engineering detailed parts and assemblies
Extract and utilize finite element analysis internal loads data
Produce stress finite element models to support sizing and structural analysis
Produce structural analysis substantiation Strength Check Notes/Reports.

Skills and Specifications

Good understanding of aircraft metallic structures analysis, manufacturing  processes, and materials
Experience with initial structural sizing and detail structural analysis
Proficiency in classical static stress analysis and allowables determination
Proficiency in linear static finite element modeling and analysis
Proficiency in fatigue analysis preferred
Damage tolerance analysis experience preferred
Experience with Boeing composite structural analysis methods and allowables determination preferred
Previous Boeing Co. primary fuselage structures analysis experience preferred
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and written
Strong interpersonal skills

Software Skills

Experience with Boeing stress analysis tools: IAS, CSW, FEADMS, FAMOSS, MOSS Duberg, IDTAS, DTANL, SA preferred
Experience with MSC PATRAN and NASTRAN preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft office tools.
Experience with ENOVIA LCA & CATIA V5 is preferred

Minimum Education and Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering from a four-year accredited College or University.
Must be a U. S. Person.
A minimum of 10 years of experience analyzing primary airframe structure.

Compensation:

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $124,800 to $156,000 however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law. '
