Requirements:

Education:
Masters degree in chemical / process engineering / or equivalent

Relevant professional experience >12 years

Relevant professional skills:

Broad experience in process technology, conceptual design and engineering; Innovative mindset, team player and sense of responsibility as well as structured and independent work capabilities
Strong competence in working and aligning with internal stakeholders and leading external partners including international contractor management
Working engagement within joint ventures; international assignments and integrated project management teams
A strong commitment to HSSE

Responsibilities:

Strategic planning

Support planning and conception of the strategic and fundamental technical orientation in the area of responsibility in alignment with business development, innovation, JV asset management and own senior management within functional area.

Technical concept development

Provide starting point for realization of improvement ideas and new concepts to further develop the Joint Venture project(s) and production site(s).
Generate concepts and shape projects in view of technical solutions, economics, risks and locations.

Project study phase

Lead feasibility studies and process design package work.
Identify suitable licensors and/or engineering partners, define scope of work, clarify legal aspects (e.g.
NDAs) and initiate procurement process (e.g ITB, SSJ if applicable).
Manage study execution to ensure development of best technical solution in terms of cost, performance and value.
Ensure completeness of technical deliverables required for entering project FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase.

Decision taking and stakeholder management

Define suitable decision criteria to evaluate and short-list different technical options.
Prepare decision proposal and drive decision process in alignment with all project stakeholders.
Provide all relevant documents for the gate keeping stages in collaboration with the nominated project development manager and in accordance with the project management standard.

Facilitate the project execution phase

Supports quality of documents, e.g.
PFDs, PID and process data sheets.
Supports the HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA assessments and takes responsibility for technical processing and implementation of technology related findings

Specific Knowledge

Provide specific knowledge in new biotechnology applications for the development of new biorefining production assets and the transformation from existing, fossil bases assets into biorefinery production processes.

Market analysis, benchmarking and continuous improvement

Continuous screening of market for technical improvements and new technical solutions.
Ensure regular exchange, comparison and benchmarking of technical processes across the production sites.
Participation in internationally renowned conferences, working groups, advisory boards and committees in order to transfer state-of-the art technical solutions and knowledge into area of responsibility.

Knowledge Sharing

Provide temporary and by request technical expertise and knowledge exchange in area of responsibility.
Share technical knowledge and provide guidance for young professionals within the own organization and within project teams.

Budget

Contribute to planning of financial resources for the study budget.
Ensure compliance with the approved budget and initiate proper measures in case of deviations.

Contribute to the development and adherence of benchmark-oriented (rate of return target) investment budget.

Mergers and acquisitions

Contribution of technical expertise during M&A activities under the leadership of the Fuels & Feedstock and corporate departments responsible for M&A.
Preparation of technology assessment part in the due diligence report.
Highlight business opportunities and risks, in worst case raising red flags, from technical perspective.

HSSE

Ensure compliance with legal policies, JV standards and internal standards.
Particularly focus on process safety in projects and perform regular safety walks by inspecting workplaces in the field to increase safety performance.
