Summary

Under direct supervision of related department management team, the Recreation Camp Leader is responsible for leading the activities of children in a day camp setting. Assists in coordinating and implementing programs and activities. Responsible for ensuring safety policies and procedures are being adhered to by participants, and designated staff.

Essential Job Functions & Other Important Duties

• Leads all counselors, including pre-service training.
• Provides customer service to all participants in activities and programs at area of assignment.
• Completes and submits proper records including camp schedules, counselor work schedules, accident/incident reports and attendance.
• Develops age-appropriate camp curriculum (6-12 years) in accordance with the objectives of the program.
• Ensures staff is following established guidelines, procedures, and standards.
• Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe environment for the children while promoting a non-competitive program directed toward accentuating positive behaviors, physical development, and emotional growth.
• Assists with the distribution and execution of weekly schedule of activities.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and all necessary documentation for the operation of the camp.
• Communicates to parents about camper's progress and activities.
• Assists with on-going program evaluations, implementing approved recommendations as needed.
• Provides reports to the Program & Youth Services Coordinator on a weekly basis to monitor camp activities throughout the program.
• Promotes all facilities, programs, and services when in contact with Members and Guests.
• Responds to inquiries and complaints related to programs, services, and special events.
• Monitors facility activities for participant compliance with health and safety rules.
• Must possess current CPR and First Aid Certification and be able to perform CPR and/or first aid as needed.

• Attends training and meetings as required.
• May be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.

• Must have a minimum of two (2) seasons of experience in youth, youth programs, recreation, or equivalent combination of related experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check, if applicable.
• May be required to possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

• May be subject to exposure to air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases when applying CPR, First Aid, or cleaning facilities.
