Purpose

Aid in the development and field deployment of underwater acoustic acquisition systems in support of defense-related and research applications in the Environmental Sciences Laboratory (ESL).

Responsibilities

• Assist with hardware fabrication and battery assembly/fabrication, as required

• Coordinate and execute on the fabrication of complex electronics systems.

• Deploy/recover subsea systems in field from offshore vessel / work boats and troubleshoot and repair equipment, as necessary.

• Develop and review quality processes to confidently ensure constructed systems meet operational requirements.

• Assist with cable fabrication and electrical support items, as required

• Assist with procurement and inventory for board fab and assembly

• Performs diagnostics on electronic components to determine functioning level and capacity.

• Procurement and tracking of inventory. Advanced documentation support.

• Maintain electrical test lab and test equipment

• Fabrication and maintenance of scientific equipment.

• Assist with preparations for offsite operations.

• Develop and review fabrication instruction and processes to be used by junior technicians.

• Other related functions as assigned.

• High school graduation or GED

• Seven years of experience

• Able to interpret manuals/schematics.

• Experience with basic lab equipment

• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely.

• Self-motivated, quick learner, results-oriented and a clear focus on quality.

• Willingness/ability to perform frequent domestic/foreign travel up to 30 percent.

• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

• Associates of Applied Science in Electronics or certification in technical trade.

• Ten or more years of work experience in an electronics-related technical trade.

• Soldering experience with through hole and surface mount applications.

• Ability to create test procedures to validate and ensure that electrical design requirements of products are met.

• Hands on electronic fabrication experience.

• Hands on mechanical fabrication experience.

• Experience directly supporting Engineers in the development and testing of prototype electronic hardware.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Basic familiarity with Altium Designer

$54,000-$64,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications
