Job Requirements Traveling Med-Surg nurses for day and night shift coverage
Schedule Information Day and night shift coverage
Shift will be twelve hours
13-26 Week Contracts
36-48 hour guarantees
Shifts & Scheduling: ,
Travelers will be scheduled
Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor
Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed
Unit Specific Information # of Beds: 55
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive
Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?
Additional Notes: This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the busyness of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first
They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmese

Are RN's required to read their own strips?
What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness
Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided: RNs: Navy Blue
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days
Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness
Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract)
Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions
