Summary of Work
As a Transportation Engineer Manager Team Lead you will Provide engineering oversite on all construction projects in the Minot District and keep the ADE & DE informed of progress on all projects.
Oversee all plan development within the District.
Primary Duties Include:
Office Management and Recording
In this role, you will maintain knowledge of department procedures and policies related to construction administration, verify mathematical calculations and unit usage on daily inspection reports, and ensure accurate final documentation of project quantities.
You will use computers to prepare progress reports, estimates, haul sheets, change orders, and other project documents.
Additionally, you will organize project records for finals, track required shop drawings and material certifications, notify contractors of documentation deficiencies, and negotiate change order items.
You will also monitor EEO and labor compliance interviews required for projects.
Preliminary Engineering and Design
In this role, you will supervise and provide professional engineering expertise for district project development, including scoping reports, project concept reports, and highway plan designs.
You will coordinate district design activities with Central Office divisions and collaborate on all phases of project development, including NDDOT, City, County, and Consultant designs.
Responsibilities include scheduling preliminary surveys, assigning personnel and equipment, reviewing survey data, and gathering information for CatEx and ECLs.
You will also prepare project plans, incorporating design recommendations, environmental regulations, and departmental standards, while handling specifications, final layouts, traffic control designs, and cost estimates.
Contract Administration
Responsibilities include supervising multiple construction projects, including NDDOT and consultant-engineered projects.
The role requires providing professional engineering expertise to ensure compliance with department procedures and Board of Registration rules.
It involves interpreting plans, specifications, and policies, analyzing and recommending solutions to construction staff, and reviewing change orders.
Additional duties include overseeing City and County projects with Federal funds, conducting consultant evaluations at project close, mentoring staff on project management, assigning project resources, and staying current with advancements in construction practices and materials.
District Management
In this role, responsibilities include supervising construction staff, conducting annual performance reviews, monitoring progress, recommending training, and handling disciplinary actions.
Involvement in the interview and hiring process is required, along with managing public relations tasks such as preparing news releases, attending public meetings, and presenting department programs.
Additional duties include resolving complaints from agencies and the public, reviewing, and approving various permits and agreements, recommending seasonal staff assignments, and preparing plans for emergency contracts.
The role also involves administering special programs for disaster assistance, emergency contracts, and small-scale safety projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering,
Four years of professional-level engineering work experience,
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of ND.
