JOB TITLE: EARLY ON PHYSICAL THERAPIST
(TOTE PROGRAM)
JOB SUMMARY:

Working with young children (0-3 years of age) with motor delays in homes and developmental groups, providing parents and TOTE teachers with therapeutic program plans that can be carried out in the home. Coordinating service with TOTE staff, families, paraprofessionals, agency and district staff. Preference will be given to the candidate who has experience in this job scope and has also worked with young children with impaired physical abilities and their families.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed physical therapist with current credentials.
Valid Michigan Driver's license
Reliable transportation to perform home visits.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):

Self-direction and ability to work effectively in a variety of settings.
Special sensitivity to the need for and ability to provide for early education for the families of Early On eligible children.
Demonstrate confidentiality, tact, and similar qualities necessary in meeting and dealing effectively with others, not only within the confines of the program but also with the families they serve.
Develop home programs for eligible children (0-3 years of age) in all areas of development, specifically motor.
Ability to make home visits in order to assist families and TOTE teachers in working effectively with their children to improve motor development.
Direct small group opportunities for children (0-3) and families in developmental groups.
Support families in seeking and utilizing community resources for their children.
Assist in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of programming.
Assess motor functioning of infant/toddlers.
Assess infants and children with developmental delays, interpret results, and develop appropriate written evaluation reports.
Develop and coordinate parent group activities.
Ability to adapt to a variety of curriculum and programs.
Ability to be flexible in difficult and unique situations.
Ability to use technology for documentation and preparation of professional materials and to assist young children.
Ability to complete MET/IFSP and IEP programs and other reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain timely and organized records.
