POSITION RESPONSIBILITY
The school nurse shall enhance the educational process by improving and protecting the health and well-being of students by implementing the established standards of school nursing practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Current State of Tennessee RN or LPN License (A copy of your active license must be presented at the time of hire and kept on file with the personnel office of McMinn County Schools. Failure to maintain an active license may result in termination of employment.)
Valid Tennessee driver's license
Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in public or child health
Maintain CPR, First Aid, BLS and all needed certifications
Satisfactory Background Check

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritizing the need of nursing services within the school setting
Must attend all training(s) provided and required by the Central Office as requested
Must fulfill COVID-19 duties and other responsibilities as directed by Central Office to include:

Receiving COVID-19 communication from student families and to provide support and direction as needed with COVID-19 at the school level
Work with MCS Coordinated School Health Department with the reporting of COVID-19
Work with school attendance officials to coordinate student absences and absences relative to COVID-19
Assist with obtaining necessary documentation for COVID-19 related absences
Other COVID-19 duties as assigned

Evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate resources as needed.
Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services including administering and monitoring of student medication
Toilet, feed, lift, position, and change diapers of students as needed.
Must maintain all safety precautions
Must maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of all services provided to students
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
Have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
Be responsible for carrying out nursing and other health related services, activities, and tasks in compliance with school district policies, IEP's, nursing standards of practice, and Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations and physician's orders.
Other duties as assigned

The school nurse will work a 185 day schedule according to the current McMinn County School calendar. The schedule will consist of 178 School/Staff Development days and seven (7) days of In-service, training, and work days. Position salary: $28,039SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION
Administrative supervision is via the school principal in coordination with the Coordinated School Health Supervisor. An annual performance/program review will be scheduled each May.
This position is dependent on ESSER Grant funding up to a two-year period effective with the 2022/23 school year. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer, medical equipment, and other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
Posture: Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Carrying, pushing, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, driving
Lifting: Lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
