Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration(NARA), Facilities and Property Management Division.
This position serves as the Assistant Chief, and is responsible for planning and directing comprehensive programs for the operation, repair, maintenance and improvement of the Archives 1 National Archives Building.
The building is situated on a 5-acre site maintained by NARA.
Ground maintenance includes all plants, lawns, trees, roads, and walkways.
Responsibilities As a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist, you will:
Plan, direct, and supervise comprehensive programs for the operation, repair, maintenance and improvement of the Archives I building.
Direct continuous inspections and surveys of physical plant facilities to ensure that safety and proper building services are provided.
Recommend contracting for repairs and alterations.
Conduct a monitoring and inspection program that will ensure all mechanical systems are operating properly, preventive maintenance programs are effectively being conducted, needed repairs are identified, and repairs are performed quickly and properly.
Requirements Conditions of Employment The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
A one year probationary period may be required.
A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.

Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13 you must have one year of experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes the following:
Supervising and/or Leading a team or project; AND Experience with Contract Administration functions (e.g.
Contracting Officers Representative (COR)); AND Planning, estimating, scheduling, and evaluating various maintenance repair or renovation projects.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
