Position Description
Under the direction of the Student Success Center Manager, the Student Success Coach provides personalized support services to students to assist them in succeeding in their educational goals.
Position Essential Duties
Deliver quality student success and library services that support retention goals, student life, and student needs.
Responsible for timely attendance and grade monitoring, timely and thorough early alert responses/interventions, and quality service regarding navigating higher education, library resources, student life, student concerns, community resources, and special population services such as Veterans, students in WDTC off-campus housing, Prison Education Program participants, and underserved populations.
Assist students with navigating WDTC's various processes and procedures and making referrals to campus offices.
Create content and maintain and ensure currency of materials on My. WDT relevant to the Student Success Center.
Advise student organizations.
Provide resource counseling to students with respect to student concerns and guidance in using the student handbook and/or student complaint processes.
Identify specific student populations for direct outreach to proactively mitigate potential withdrawal or failure.
Intervene as needed and refer students to appropriate campus and/or community resources.
Provide supportive and consultative services to faculty and staff to promote student success.
Assist with Information and Jumpstart/Orientation days, the Outstanding Graduates Banquet, the Native American Honoring Ceremony, Graduation, and other student events.
Create and monitor Student Success Plans for students on academic probation.
Offer exemplary customer service.
Cover the front desk as requested.

Qualifications
Associate degree in Social Services, Human Services, Business Administration or related field and at least one-year work related experience, preferably in higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
The duties of this position are primarily sedentary in nature; however, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10-25 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Fundamentals and concepts of caring assistance and mentorship.
Knowledge of WDTC and community resources available to students.
WDTC policies concerning administrative guidelines and procedures.
Knowledge of basic interventions, techniques and procedures utilized to aid students in improving their academic and social progress.
Basic understanding of the WDTC structure and content basics of courses provided to WDTC students.
Understanding of basic office procedures, software, tools and applications available to maintain records and files (word processing and databases) and in tracking student progress and other recordkeeping functions associated with the job.
Current technology used in educational services.
Policies, procedures, functions, and organization of assigned areas of responsibility.
Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication skills.
Develop positive working relationships with students, staff and the community to work effectively with many different personalities.
Developing plans, interventions and goals for addressing student needs and issues.
Time management and organizational skills with minimal supervisory direction/instruction.
Maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
