These individuals' performs procedures and examinations in a hospital or clinical environment in the treatment of patients. The work involves the operations of radiologic and film development, as well as the cleaning and disinfecting of equipment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  1. Prepares room, equipment, medicine and material needed for the patients.
  2. Cleans and disinfects X-Ray equipment. Assures that sterile supplies, contras materials or other required equipment are present and lay out.
  3. Prepares patients for X-Ray; explains procedures, transfers patients to table, and positions them.
  4. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization ad support devices to obtain proper position of patients; adjust lead shield and select appropriate film.
  5. Maintains records of patients examined, examinations performed, views taken, and technical factors used.
  6. Performs other duties as directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High school or equivalent and completion of a two (2) year or longer training program in diotherapeurtic technology which has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologist, or the American Medical Association.
  2. Professionally registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge of radiation protection standards and the effects of X-Ray techniques of patients and operators exposure. Knowledge procedures used in performing radiologic technology.
  2. Knowledge of the human anatomy.
  3. Knowledge and skill in positioning of patients for a wide variety of difficult radiologic examinations.
  4. Knowledge of radiolographic exposures techniques and other accessories to produce radiographs of high diagnostic quality with minimum of retakes
  5. Knowledge to operate radiologic equipment skillfully and in a manner which avoids radiation injury to self and patients.
  6. Ability to detect faulty operations and conditions dangerous to patients, personnel and equipment.
  7. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  8. Ability to relate with tact and understand to deal with parents, doctors, staff and all other persons contacted during the course of work.
  9. Ability to employ sound judgment in the planning and execution of assigned duties.
  10. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of in an inpatient care setting.
  11. Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures, emergency protocols, Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid services and all other local and federal regulatory standards
  12. Ability to make presentations before management, public groups, and staff.
  13. Knowledge of analytical and grammatical skills necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  14. Familiarity with spreadsheet and overall computer skills.
  15. Ability to work with a wide variety of other professionals and staff engaged in the delivery of health care services.
  16. Ability to gain the confidence and respect of the public to be served.
  17. Ability to work well independently including without administrative support when required.
  18. Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential.
  19. Ability to work in a highly visible position undergoing significant changes with multiple constituents, each with demands exceeding resources.
  20. Ability to work independently, as part of a team and be available.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Employee will work in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in hand hygiene practices, Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated; is subject to interruptions and noise daily.

Possess near vision acuity for accurate reading of equipment and recording on patient charts. Must be physically able to lift, support, and move patients.

Medical and Dental Coverage
Enrollment
The Virgin Islands government offers to full-time employees and their eligible dependents, a group health and dental insurance plan.

Full-time employees must enroll within thirty-one (31) days of hire unless they can provide proof of medical coverage from another source. An employee who does not enroll within 31 days of employment will be automatically enrolled in the health insurance plan with single coverage.

If an employee fails to enroll dependents within the initial eligibility period he/she must wait until a period of "open enrollment" is announced or have a qualifying event as determined by the health insurance carrier to enroll dependents or make changes to their coverage.

Effective Date of Coverage
If enrollment forms are received on or before the 6th of the month, coverage will be effective on the first day of the first month following the receipt of enrollment forms. If enrollment forms received on the 7th of the month or later, coverage will be effective on the first day of the second month followi.
