Information Technology Specialist
Primary Purpose
The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for assisting the Information Technology Unit with inquiries and requests for services related to personal computer and peripherals. This position must have sound working knowledge of Agency applications and the ability to troubleshoot problems associated with hardware and software issues.
Education and Qualification Requirement
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Network Certification or College Education
Valid Florida Driver's License
Type 25 WPM accurately
Advanced knowledge of general office equipment
Advanced computer literacy
Duties
Plan hardware purchases and/or installations
Install/relocate hardware and peripherals
Repair computer hardware and peripherals
Maintain operational status of hardware
Maintain and update maintenance files
Determine and evaluate software/hardware requirements
Install and update software
Conduct computer related training and/instruction
Program/modify systems
Perform data backup functions
Backup the server
Backup PC files on a regular basis
Install computer networks
Identify/eliminate potential network/system problems
Act as liaison with technical support resources and to users
Issue/update/distribute access/security cards
Generate access/security related reports
Perform technical support
Research and recommend new information technologies
Schedule auto tasks
Set up user accounts
Set up/maintain/oversee computer security system
Maintain off-site backup storage
Research and assess software compatibility
Update workstations/software
Perform computer system support functions
Code, test/evaluate, debug applications
Coordinate application enhancements/fixes
Analyze data entry input
Evaluate requests for data processing services
Performs periodic reboot of the mainframe system
Troubleshoot hardware problems

Report directly to supervisor
Adhere to laws/agency policy/rules/ regulations/SOP/ procedures
Maintain confidentiality/security of files and information obtained in the course of employment
Process/compile/disseminate record/public record information as directed by approving authority in accordance with lawful requirements
Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to Staff and co-workers
Adhere to leave, overtime and attendance policies/procedures (i.e. arrive promptly, regular attendance at work, notification to supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents, etc.)

Physical Environment
Normal business hours apply; however, hours may vary and overtime may be necessary including nights, holidays, and weekends
Work is primarily indoors
Subject to routine call outs (Scheduled)
Regular attendance is required due to the workload associated with this position
Contact with public and SJSO personnel
Work in proximity to noisy equipment such as server room
