UH Lakewood Medical Center

UH Behavioral Health

is the KC metro area's largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The

Crossroads Building , located in Kansas City's vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.


Performs tests with high complexity on blood and body fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease consistent with a level 1 trauma center. Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Scientist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations. May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department.
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science

and

ASCP (or equivalent) certification in one or more specialty areas of the laboratory.

Or , Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science


completion of an AMA approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification.

Or , completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certification

Verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel.

Writing skills and computer aptitude required to document test results and prepare reports of daily work

Must be able to stand for long periods

Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment

Must be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays

All Scientists must meet the CLIA '88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed
