• Position Summary:
Ergotron is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in all aspects of the design process, including ideation, research, concept development, mechanical engineering/design, CAD modeling and drawing creation (SOLIDWORKS preferred), creating or assisting in test plan creation, product specifications and other supporting documentation needs to support the design and development process/QMS to join our team. Position Responsibilities:
Drives mechanical engineering and design aspects of OEM product development initiatives.
Participates in product discovery, concept definition, and creative implementation through research, ideation, prototyping, and CAD modeling.
Works collaboratively with project management, electrical engineering, and account managers toward common design goals.
Uses customer insight process to identify, clarify, and solve customer problems.
Conceives elegant, effective ways to address ergonomic and mechanical challenges.
Maintains design intent throughout the development process.
Creates prototypes (aesthetic and/or functional) that illustrates ideas to the team.
Ensures that usability, sustainability, and overall product experience guides each program.
Creates or assists in the creation of documents related to the development process, including product specifications, test plans, etc.
Stays abreast of design, color, material, finish (CMF), and manufacturing trends.
Supports "Lean Business Enterprise" initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.
Additional duties as requested.
Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):
BS in Mechanical Engineering (further education a plus).
7-10 years of experience in a Mechanical or Industrial Design environment.
Excellent written communication.
High proficiency in CAD software (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
Experienced working with complex systems, mechanisms, and assemblies.
Designs for and understands manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, casting, sheet metal, extrusion).
Hands-on approach to building mock-ups (e.g., foam core, wood, metal, plastic, etc.)
Understanding of human factors and ergonomics.
Passionate about problem solving.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described to you for the position.
