SUMMARY: We're seeking an experienced Flexible Consumer Packaging Shift Supervisor at our brand new American Packaging Corporation to lead and motivate a team in our fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures smooth production operations, manages team performance, and upholds safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates have strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in a manufacturing or packaging setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following as well as other duties as assigned:
SAFETY
Leads safety efforts throughout all departments in Manufacturing.
Includes safety performance of press personnel and safety systems and procedures in Press Department.
Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations, also is a contributing member of a safety team.
Reviews all observations related to assigned press and accepts responsibility for follow up.
Incident investigations complete & sent out by email before the end of the shift when an incident happens
Follow up investigation & TOR completed with the department manager within 24hrs
Accountability for fire & tornado drills
PRESS FACILITATOR
Manages & is responsible for operations of assigned press 24 hours a day
Housekeeping, implementation & maintaining the 5s program for assigned press
Conduct meetings monthly with personnel on assigned press:
(Review Safety Concerns, Mnt Concerns, Production #s, and Customer complaints)
Responsible for evaluating employees on assigned press.
Look ahead on the schedule & have run conditions for jobs not meeting budget.
Coordinate with maintenance the work orders & PMs for assigned press
Approves color matching for presses on scheduled shift
Analyzes press production and improves process where opportunity exists.
Preproduction meeting with graphics
Job short orders
Coordinate priorities & efforts of maintenance & the engineers
Drawdown books
Sign off on all MRs on shift & document the corrective action taken
Minimum of one procedure audit per shift to support coaching & training efforts of the helpers
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Management representative responsible for all plant operations on night shifts.
Strong communication with production manager on all process and personnel issues.
Makes decisions concerning troubleshooting and employee issues.
Knows, understands, implements, & enforces plant procedures and policies.
Leads teams formed to deal with production, manufacturing and safety issues.
Daily 5s shift audits
Daily production status report
Raw material rejections
Inspecting & sign off on all returns & ensure that good quality product is being produced
Cylinder check sheets
Adjust crews accordingly to minimize OT but still meet goals
OK sheets filled out & check off
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree (A. A. ) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
