Summary

This position is located at one of the various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics with the Great Plains Area. The primary purpose of this position is to function as an Optometrist performing a full range of professional Optometry duties including preventive and therapeutic medical care to individuals of all ages.

Duties

* Delivering high quality primary eye & vision care services; examining for & prescribing corrective lens, ordering diagnostic imaging & laboratory studies;

* Preparing referrals for diagnosis, treatment & management of systemic & ocular conditions revealed through optometric examination.

* Providing patient & family education regarding ocular health issues.

* Performing mandated examinations such as diabetic retinopathy & glaucoma screenings.

* Performing the administrative components of patient care management, including timely completion of progress notes, consults & encounters for all patients.

Must pass pre-employment examination.

Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period.

ESEP appointees typically serve a two year trial period.

U. S. Citizenship is required.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
