The Fort Thompson Service Unit is one facility in the Great Plains Area Indian Health Service System. The purpose of this position is to provide professional leadership to improve the health status of the Indian People served. It will be achieved by corporate compliance that is requisite to maintaining accreditation with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) or Joint Commission, clinical competence, financial compliance and cost efficiency.

Duties

* Overall responsibility for corporate compliance, planning, organization, direction, implementation, execution, measurement and correction of a comprehensive health services program that is cost effective while improving clinical outcomes for the Service Unit including direct health care, indirect health care and community health services.

* Makes provisions to assure the facility is operated within the standards of the Joint Commission for Accreditation, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services or comparable accepted public health standards.

* Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with the Service Unit population, tribal governments, committees, boards, and councils in the development of programs to meet the health needs of the Indian People.

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Individual Occupational Requirements

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

or

Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
