The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Obtains and maintains an advanced understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Provides guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and professional development.
Reconciles and reviews various accounts by identifying posting errors or omissions by applying the appropriate accounting standards.
Prepares a variety of monthly, periodic, and annual financial and statistical reports.
Monitors investment rates and records investments with financial institutions; maintains and reconciles investment activity.
Serves as a liaison between the Agency and the billing entities and ensures the accuracy of our billing.

Creates, maintains, and inputs journal entries.
Monitors bank balances to ensure adequate cash flow.
Responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Maintains the Accounting Department's dashboard.
Coordinate and support both internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and financial data.
Assists in the preparation of the financial statements and notes.
Assists with the preparation and distribution of the ACFR.
Identifies, troubleshoots, tests, and assists in the implementation of Workday process improvements, modules and upgrades, as needed.
Manages the Agency's insurance claims and policy renewals.
Ensures internal accounting process and procedures are adhered to. Reviews and updates procedures annually and develop procedures when needed.
Identify and implement process improvements including technology advancements.
Assist with the development of the annual budget, including providing variance analysis and recommendations.
Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates and support to department leaders.
Support long-term financial planning and forecasting activities.
Special projects, as needed.

Essential Skills & Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
Requires minimum five (5) years of accounting experience.
CPA required
