Job Summary:
As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer at US Engine Valve, you will be responsible for designing and specifying advanced electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems. You will also improve manufacturing support and maintenance programs through training and technical support. Your duties will include developing process specifications, machine parameters, and plans for scrap reduction and uptime improvements. Additionally, you will drive capital projects from strategic planning to purchase, installation, and hand-off to operations. You will also benchmark best-in-class facilities and implement world-class processes, equipment, and workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Design control systems for machine tools, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
Select capital equipment for manufacturing processes.
Improve current machine tools to increase uptime, quality, and productivity.
Provide engineering support to production equipment and processes, including advising maintenance personnel.
Establish programs for cost savings activities to support overall plant requirements.
Advise on improving preventative maintenance programs.
Consult with suppliers and internal engineers for continuous improvement programs.
Authorize and approve changes to machine tool programs.
Train associates on new technologies and manufacturing processes.
Maintain and follow Quality Management System and Environmental Management System requirements.
Participate in teams and champion team activities.
Track and accumulate cost savings.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
Technical knowledge in machine function, processes, control systems, CNC, PLC, servo drives, stepper motor drives, and electrical/electronic systems.
Technical knowledge in mechanical design.
Detailed abilities in capital equipment justification, project scheduling, and managerial planning.
Human relations skills.
Mentor and develop maintenance personnel.
Assist other plants/facilities with technical problems.
Self-manage assigned project tasks.
Preferred experience in data-driven analysis and problem-solving methods.
