Director of Ecommerce

A Luxury Retail E-Commerce Director position is a senior leadership role that focuses on driving the online sales strategy and operations for a luxury brand or retailer. The director oversees the digital commerce team and works cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, technology, customer service, and logistics to ensure a seamless and profitable e-commerce experience for high-end consumers.
Key Responsibilities: E-Commerce Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy tailored to luxury consumers.
Drive revenue growth through digital channels while maintaining the brand's luxury image and positioning.
Identify new digital opportunities (e.g., emerging platforms, partnerships, and technologies) to enhance brand presence.

Online Merchandising: Oversee the online product assortment, pricing strategies, and inventory management to ensure alignment with brand guidelines and demand.
Collaborate with the merchandising team to curate exclusive online collections or digital-first product launches.

Customer Experience & Personalization: Ensure a personalized and premium customer experience across all digital touchpoints (website, mobile apps, and social media).
Lead the development of digital tools like virtual styling, AI-based product recommendations, or high-touch customer service channels.

Brand Management: Ensure the brand's identity, values, and luxury positioning are consistently represented online.
Work closely with marketing teams to deliver compelling digital content, including photography, storytelling, and video assets.

Technology & Platform Management: Oversee the e-commerce platform's technical infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and an optimized user experience.
Drive innovation through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies (e.g., augmented reality, 3D imaging, advanced personalization tools).

Data Analytics & Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rates, average order value, customer lifetime value, and return on investment (ROI).
Use data insights to optimize the customer journey and continuously improve online sales performance.

Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary e-commerce team, including digital marketing, operations, content creation, and technology.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with IT, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment, accurate stock levels, and customer satisfaction.
Work with the creative and marketing departments to ensure alignment between online campaigns and retail events.

Luxury Market Knowledge: Stay ahead of trends in luxury retail and e-commerce, keeping up with consumer behaviors, technological advances, and competitor activities.
Leverage an understanding of luxury consumers' needs to create bespoke online experiences.

Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in e-commerce, with a focus on luxury retail or high-end fashion, beauty, or accessories.
Proven track record of successfully scaling e-commerce businesses in a luxury environment.
Expertise in omni-channel retail, digital marketing, and online merchandising.

Skills: Strong understanding of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or custom solutions.
Expertise in digital marketing, SEO/SEM, email marketing, social media, and paid media campaigns.
Advanced knowledge of UX/UI principles and how to create a luxurious, seamless online experience.

Leadership: Exceptional team leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and drive performance in a cross-functional environment.
Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Education: A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, e-commerce, or a related field is typically required. An MBA is a plus.
