The environment on our unit is welcoming, enthusiastic, and passionate about the work that we do.
We care for adult patients who are being treated for multiple chronic and acute conditions from a neurological perspective.
The Epilepsy monitoring side (4 beds) assists in appropriately diagnosing and treating patients suspected of epileptic events.
This specialized area uses EEG monitoring and diagnostic techniques to elicit events to determine if the events are non-epileptic or epileptic in nature.
From there, our neurologists can determine the best pathway to treatment for this population.
Our Neurological side (5 beds) treats patients who are diagnosed with acute and chronic neurological disorders.
Some diagnoses include stroke, seizures, syncope, and several others.
Medical-Surgical patients can also be found on this side.
Our patients are unique because on the epilepsy monitoring side are patients that we monitor for a week.
We want to view their events and use the assessment tools to determine proper treatment and therapy.
This unit gives people's lives back and delivers answers to lifelong questions.
One of the perks of working on our unit is the passion and desire to learn about the neurological patient population that is felt on the unit and engrained in the culture.
The work the staff does on this unit shapes their patients' lives for the better.
Our nurses are successful because they have drive, compassion, and a vision to change lives.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a six to eight-week training on the unit with a dedicated and experienced preceptor.
WE ENCOURAGE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH.
If your career goal is to change lives of patients with an epileptic diagnosis and grow in your skills as a nurse, the Epilepsy Monitoring/Neurological Unit can help with this by fostering an environment that you can grow.
