We are Bloom Growth-an ecosystem for the growth of your entire team. This position is 100% remote. Actually, our entire company is fully remote!

About The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Bloom Growth, you will play a crucial role in leading backend development efforts, mentoring junior team members, and driving the technical direction of our projects. You are responsible for developing, testing, and shipping a high-quality application that creates new possibilities for entrepreneurs and their team members. You'll be focused on delivering impactful solutions that put users and outcomes first, while also ensuring the robustness and security of our systems. You will work on a small team of developers, designers, and product owners.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Technical development and deployment:
- Design, develop, and deploy high-quality, user-focused backend solutions that deliver real value across the Bloom Growth ecosystem.
- Lead the development and maintenance of our backend services and GraphQL API, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Ensure our applications are fast, secure, and reliable.
- Utilize CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions to set up and maintain automated pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
- Apply iterative development practices to drive rapid feature improvements and ensure timely delivery.
Risk management and best practices:
- Identify and mitigate technical risks early on to prevent potential issues, including data leaks, ensuring the security and integrity of our systems.
- Own the health and quality of the systems you build and advocate for best practices.
- Be proactive in identifying areas for improvement and taking action to enhance the system's performance and maintainability.
Collaboration and cross-functional work:
- Work closely with our front-end developers and product team to build and improve features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features, refactor existing code, and contribute to product strategy.
- Communicate effectively within the team and
- with leadership about progress, challenges, and technical decisions.
Mentorship, leadership, and innovation:
- Review code, mentor junior developers, share your knowledge and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Take initiative in architectural discussions, code reviews, and decision-making processes, encouraging healthy debate to arrive at the best solutions.
- Bring new ideas to the table and help us stay ahead in tech.
- Prioritize user outcomes in all development processes, ensuring that our solutions address real user needs effectively.

Requirements

Qualifications/ What We Look For:

5+ years of experience in backend development, with expertise in C#, MySQL, and AWS.
Solid understanding of software architecture and coding practices.
Advanced understanding of CI/CD practices, particularly using GitHub Actions.
Strong ability to identify technical risks and prevent potential issues, particularly regarding data security.
Established practice of putting user needs and outcomes at the forefront of development efforts.
History of taking initiative and driving technical projects from concept to completion.
Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Committed to fostering a healthy team culture, including facilitating constructive debates and collaborative problem-solving.
Comfortable working transparently, providing and receiving feedback, and championing continuous improvement.
Preference for experience with data systems beyond MySQL/relational databases to support forward-looking architecture.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with front-end frameworks like React. js is a plus.

During the interview process, we'll also ask you to take the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment. The Predictive Index measures your most natural behavioral tendencies and overall learning ability. It is not used as a disqualification tool, but rather a way to help us understand overall job fit, create unique interview questions based around your preferences, and ultimately create a better onboarding experience if you inevitably join our team.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $160k - $190k annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as any applicable employment laws. This salary range is for someone whose permanent address is in the United States.
