Follows patient accounts through the pre-billing process. In general this position will:
Monitor all scheduled visits to ensure proper pre-authorization is acquired.
Determines appropriate billing and coding for services provided
Resolve account issues prior to billing.
This position will also collaborate with OSS and Scheduler staff; Pr-authorization, Financial Advocates, and referring clinics to ensure that our patients have an Exceptional Patient Experience.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Charge code maintenance.
Epic WQ maintenance.
Fielding frequent pre-authorization, billing, and scheduling inquiries.
Entering supply charges manually from departments as needed.
Perform audits as needed.
Follows up with providers to ensure timely dictation.
Monitor charges/revenue to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Works with the authorization team to ensure all appointments are worked and ready prior to appointment.
Participate in the annual CPT change/update review.
Enters medical codes for visits or procedures and ensures compliance and correct coding practices.
Provides customer service to patients by educating them on insurance policies, billing procedures and coding issues.
Calls patients and insurance companies to follow-up with account information.
May provide training to others on billing procedures and practices.
Problem Solving.
The incumbent participates in resolving issues with insurance companies regarding
incorrect registration information, claims processing, pre-authorization requirements,
and coding issues.
This position requires the ability to effectively and efficiently problem solve trouble accounts and maintain a positive relationship with other departments.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
