This position is part of the Northwest Region Public Health Division within the NMDOH. The Public Health Department provides safety net services to the most vulnerable clients within the community, based on set program area processes and protocols in the areas of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Family Planning, adult and child immunizations, Harm Reduction and MOUD services.
Why does the job exist?
This position exists to provide/support clinical services for a variety of public health programs including but not limited to: Family Planning including teens without parental consent, Immunizations for children and qualified adults, Treatment for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Treatment for Tuberculosis, Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder.
This position promotes public health and participates in the role of building healthier communities in New Mexico.
How does it get done?
Providing testing and treatment per department protocols and standing orders for STD's
Provide Family Planning services per Title X protocols. Assist provider with Family Planning visits.
Provide immunizations to children per VFC and Immunization Program protocols and standing orders.
Provide immunization to adults per immunization program guidelines.
Provide MOUD services per program protocols.
Support provider staff in case management of Hepatitis C and MOUD clients.
Contribute to the team maintenance of the department's lab, pharmacy and immunization programs.

The customers are New Mexicans, with an emphasis on undeserved residents.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position must possess and maintain a current New Mexico Registered Nurse license or be eligible for licensure in accordance with Nursing Practice Act 361-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16-21-1 through 61-12-20 NMAC as applicable. The ideal candidate has experience:
Working in a clinic setting.
Administering medications and immunizations.
Is an independent thinker, decision maker and self starter.
Ensuring adherence to clinical policies, protocols and procedures. Specifically the delivery of care per standing orders and protocols.
Ensuring compliance with laboratory and pharmacy regulations.
Working in a team environment.
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a public health office clinic, and on occasion at auxiliary or community sites with potential for exposure to communicable diseases. Work is performed in an office with computer usage and exposure to visual display terminals, standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse racial and ethnic populations many of who do not speak the English language. Some travel may be required.
