The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of products and processes within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, resolving quality issues, and supporting the development and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). The Quality Supervisor will also drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and organizational performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hire, train, and develop Quality Department staff.
Oversee the daily workflow, scheduling, and productivity of the quality team.
Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
Manage employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive quality control systems and procedures specific to plastic injection molding.
Continuously monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Investigate and resolve quality complaints, non-conformances, and defects. Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
Train and develop staff on quality control procedures, tools, and techniques. Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring quality is integrated from the early stages of process design through full production.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track quality performance. Prepare and present regular quality reports to management.
Assist in the submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for new products.
Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process, ensuring timely resolution of quality issues related to supplier parts or materials. Communicate with suppliers to verify corrective actions are implemented.
Lead document control activities, ensuring proper record-keeping and compliance.
Generate Certificates of Conformance (CoC) for production shipments.
Ensure the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and quality control methods.
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, suppliers, and management.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field with a focus on plastics or manufacturing, or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience in implementing and maintaining quality management systems.
Proven track record of driving quality improvements and achieving measurable results.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and generating reports.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect produced parts.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
