BASIC FUNCTION:
Postdoctoral Researcher (Research Scientist)
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Will work with internal and external stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Postdoc Fellow (Research Scientist) at Howard University's DoD Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CoE-AIML) will assist with the execution of the project and will commit 40 hours per week to the project. The tasks of the postdoc will include the following:
Develop, design, and evaluate secure, trustworthy, robust, fair, explainable AI system and ML algorithms as well as Gen AI/LLM for multidomain operations by working independently as well as in group setting.
Develop high impact research papers to be published in high-impact journals and conferences.
Coordinates and ensures development of pertinent reports and their timely delivery.
Conducts experiments using GPUs, data collection, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
Participates in development of manuscripts and reports and conduct of primary and secondary data analyses.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal Investigator especially those related to research training, mentoring, and interdisciplinary projects.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor PI/Center Director Dr. Danda B Rawat.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated track record of publishing in high impact journals and conferences.
Related work experience or willingness to learn and work on secure, trustworthy, robust, fair, explainable AI system and ML algorithms, or Gen AI/LLMs for multidomain operations.
Demonstrated programming experience and fluency in one or more programming languages such as Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
Demonstrated computing experience and knowledge, including software packages such as LaTeX, word processing, database applications, and spreadsheet.
Competence in both oral and written English and ability to articulate concisely and in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented interdisciplinary environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have his/her Ph.D. degree before joining Howard University or ABD (all but dissertation) who can finish PhD within 3 months of joining this position at Howard University and should have adequate research experience demonstrated through publications in top-tier international conferences in the areas of cybersecurity, AI and machine learning (or similar doctoral degree) in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, mathematics, or similar area. Doctoral students with ABD (all but dissertation) status who can finish PhD within 3 months of joining this position will also be considered.

Expected Salary Range: $60,000 - $67,000
