Position Summary:
This position will be in the Inpatient Pediatric General Surgery Trauma department. The Physician Assistant is an integral part of the surgical team, performing assessments of patients, coordinating work-ups, participating in rounds, performing assigned procedures, supporting inpatient case management (including orders, progress notes, and discharge coordination), performing consultations, carrying service pager and accepting responsibility for after-hour and or weekend Emergency Department call and floor coverage as assigned, and managing assigned outpatient clinics. The Physician Assistant facilitates the provision of optimum health care for patients and their families in conjunction with other health care team members.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Completion of Physician Assistant Program
License/Certification:
Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California. BLS
Experience : Experience in pediatric patient care, required. Specialized educational preparation and/or extensive clinical experience in specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Computer knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and prioritize demands. Utilization management or experience with health care provider systems. Knowledge of pediatric conditions is highly desired. Must possess appropriate evaluation techniques, and ability to develop and implement treatment plan. Serve as 1st or 2nd assistant in the OR as needed.
