POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist who will provide exceptional care by evaluating patients and selecting appropriate treatments to enhance or restore function. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will participate in community education and the clinical education of student affiliates. Cross-site coverage may be required.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a B.S. degree.
Current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy is required.
COMPETENCIES:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Proficient in Windows-based software necessary for departmental functions.
Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferred.
Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between multiple work sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate patients following departmental standards.
Conduct and adjust evaluations based on symptoms and medical status, creating individualized, measurable goals.
Provide tailored therapeutic exercises to improve strength, endurance, coordination, and range of motion (ROM).
Administer physical modalities and therapeutic techniques to alleviate pain and meet treatment goals.
Implement effective methods to normalize motor activity and learning.
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and functional activities to maximize independence.
Assess when patients have reached maximum therapeutic benefit and recommend discharge when appropriate.
Maintain compliant documentation according to insurance guidelines and departmental policies.
Foster communication with interdepartmental teams and referring physicians regarding patient progress.
Accurately submit daily charge documentation.
Adhere to the APTA professional code of ethics at all times.
Utilize proper body mechanics and safety measures in all duties to prevent injuries.
Supervise at least one student affiliate each year.
Engage in continuing education to enhance treatment techniques.
Participate in at least one departmental or community educational event annually.
