Physical Therapist

Position Summary
The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services as determined by medical direction, therapist judgment, patient needs and desires, and available facilities. Organizes and conducts physical therapy programs in the hospital and community to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease or injury. Helps patient reach his/her optimal physical abilities and learn to live within the limits of his/her capabilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

EDUCATION:
Required:
Master's degree (MPT.) or Doctorate (DPT) in Physical Therapy from an accredited program

Preferred:

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Active license from Iowa Board of Physical Therapy
BLS

Valid Drivers License

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:


Essential Job Functions

Obtain information from physicians, providers and patients needed to develop plans of care for inpatient and outpatient populations.
Utilize electronic medical record to document care plans, daily notes, updated care plans as outlined in policies and procedures of the rehabilitation department.
Supervise physical therapy assistants, technicians, and other rehabilitation services support staff.
Participate in staff conferences, in-services and educational programs.
May effectively work with a variety of age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Maintain licensure through approved continuing education hours as required by the state of Iowa.
Maintains familiarity with various types of medical insurance and obtain pre-authorizations or re-authorization as required by patients' health care insurers or managed care providers.
Performs all other duties as required from rehabilitation director.
