Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist in their Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection of biological specimens for the purpose of performing laboratory procedures and assisting laboratory technologists in sample processing. This candidate should create an environment of patient-centered compassionate care to all patients seeking care at Cary Medical Center.
Consistently obtains optimal quality specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
Responds promptly to computer orders and telephone requests.
Explains the procedure to the patient and answers questions appropriately.
Orders the correct tests as indicated on the Medical Provider's requisition.
Responds promptly to STAT and URGENT requests.
Completes draw with one needle stick to obtain sufficient quantity of specimen greater than 95% of the time.
Collects specimens other than blood samples, such as nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs, for testing.
Requirements
1. No license required - on the job training
2. Obtainment of Phlebotomy Certification required within the first 6 months of employment.
3. CPR and basic first aid recommended
4. High school graduate or equivalent GED
Schedule:
With consideration to our patients' and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
