People & Culture Ops Specialist III
The mission of the Allen Institute is to unlock the complexities of bioscience and advance our knowledge to improve human health.
Using an open science, multi-scale, team-oriented approach, the Allen Institute focuses on accelerating foundational research, developing standards and models, and cultivating new ideas to make a broad, transformational impact on science.
The mission of the Allen Institute Administration team is to provide support and structure to the scientific divisions.
Coinciding with the team science approach, administration helps facilitate team learning and the institute's overall mission.
The People & Culture Ops Specialist III

plays a key role in advancing operational excellence and aligning people initiatives with organizational goals.
Building on prior experience, this role involves greater ownership of processes, data analysis, and cross-functional projects.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and focused on fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace while improving operational efficiency.

Essential Functions
Lead or co-lead initiatives to strengthen an inclusive and collaborative workplace
Drive the implementation and improvement of HR processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and alignment with goals
Manage onboarding and offboarding for visiting scientists and temporary collaborators, with a focus on improving experiences
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to team performance and engagement, providing recommendations for action
Enhance internal communications to support clarity, consistency, and engagement across teams
Research and recommend industry best practices to improve people operations processes and employee experiences
Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring effective preparation and follow-up
Provide high-level scheduling and administrative support to the VP of People & Culture, including managing priorities and meeting logistics
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in HR, operations, or program/project support roles
Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, coordinate projects, and prioritize effectively
Familiarity with systems and processes related to recruiting, onboarding, and employee lifecycle management
Preferred Education and Experience

4+ years of experience in HR or related roles, with demonstrated growth in responsibility
Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams and stakeholders
Experience in driving process improvements or implementing change management efforts
A strategic mindset, with the ability to recommend and implement practical solutions
Strong communication and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail
Proficiency in MS Office 365 tools, including PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and Lists
Physical Demands

Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment

Type/Expected Hours of Work
This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment.
We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.
Annualized Salary Range
$90,900 - $123,640
• Final salary depends on the required education for the role, experience, level of skills relevant to the role, and work location, where applicable.
