Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a Head Boys JV Basketball Coach. The part-time is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student-athletes and assistant coaches, as well as, providing an overall vision for the program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for basketball and a proven track record of coaching high school athletes.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program for the Boys JV team
Plan and conduct individual and team practices
Plan, develop and implement competitive game strategies
Collaborate with the sports performance staff to enhance the physical capabilities of all student-athletes
Provide guidance to the administration on strategic scheduling
Provide leadership to all members of the basketball program, including players, coaches, and staff
Assist with the long-term planning for the boy's basketball program by working with coaches at all levels
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork
Foster an environment that focuses on the academic mission of the institution
Ensure compliance with all Academy, WPIAL, and PIAA policies and regulations
Requirements:
Previous successful coaching experience at the high school varsity level or collegiate level
Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their full potential
Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture
Proven ability to foster academic growth for all student-athletes
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Current certification in CPR and First Aid or the willingness to acquire these certifications
