THE POSITION

The Department of Agriculture is seeking candidates for a Weights and Measures Inspector position that performs critical work in ensuring compliance with State Weights and Measures Laws and Regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will inspect and conduct accuracy tests on weighing and measuring instruments utilized in commercial transactions. You will also inspect commodities that are packaged, sold, or available for sale based on weight, measure, or count. Additionally, you will oversee the audits of inspections carried out by Certified Examiners of Weights and Measures. This includes ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations. Furthermore, you will investigate claims of fraud and misconduct, taking appropriate enforcement measures to uphold integrity in commercial practices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:
00 AM to 4:
00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position will be home-headquartered if applicant lives in Butler County. If applicant does not live in Butler County, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in Butler County and the work day will start at 8:
00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle.
Travel will be required to cover counties in Region 4, which includes Butler, Lawrence, Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland, Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties.

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.

Additional Requirements:

This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
