Clerk Typist 2 Local Government - Lehigh County MH/ID

THE POSITION

The Lehigh County Office of Mental Health/Intellectual Disability/Drug & Alcohol (MH/ID/D&A) is looking for an outgoing Clerk Typist 2 to complete our team. This position gives you the opportunity to provide vital support to all residents of Lehigh County who are experiencing a mental health emergency with the purpose of accessing treatment, recovery, and ultimately an improved quality of life. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Clerk Typist 2 is considered a moderately complex administrative support position responsible for performing a variety of functions for the Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol units. Work includes skilled typing of correspondence, reports, transactions, transmittals, and similar documents for the Administrator, Program Directors, and/or any other authorized designees. Work may involve the skilled utilization of specialized equipment and software programs. You will have the opportunity to provide clerical support to the MH/ID/D&A Administrative Assistant in the areas of Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol as needed. Additional responsibilities include:

• Handling calls received for the Adult Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol, HealthChoices, and Administrative phone lines
• Completing daily reports
• Updating and maintaining the D&A and AMH media pages
• Maintaining and distributing calendars
• Developing forms and documents used by Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol staff
• Coordinating training courses for the spring and fall
• Acting as recording secretary for the D&A Advisory Board
• Processing incoming and outgoing mail
• Maintaining office supplies
• Proofreading varying types of materials
• Training new employees with regards to daily operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
• Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
• Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
