The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, under the supervision of the Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiologist, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals, exercises professional judgment in performance of services, and applies principles of radiation protection for self and the patient.
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates nuclear medicine equipment to produce diagnostic images, processes images using computer manipulation, sends images to PACS, and prepares the room, equipment, supplies and radiopharmaceuticals.
He/she provides patient care during imaging procedures.
Records information for the patient's medical record and explains the procedure to the patient and maintains quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment.
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will also help to ensure that the department meets DNV-GL standards and achieves the organizations objectives.
They will also assist with the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols as requested.QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine training program, or equivalent training.
Registry eligible technologist can work under the supervision of a registered technologist and Radiologist.Preferred registry card on file.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Venipuncture skills preferred but will train if necessary.Current CPR card or completion of course within 30 days of hire.Familiar with NRC, DEQ, DOT regulations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking and standing.Able to frequently lift up to 60 pounds, reach, pull, bend, stoop, and kneel.Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable glass/contacts, to read, write, and evaluate medical images.Able to hear or correctable with hearing devices and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the telephone.Able to hear, see and feel to accurately observe, monitor, and administer care.Possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.
