MAINTENANCE WORKER

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Maintenance Worker.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) coordinates services for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Wood County. Our mission is to support, empower, and inspire. • Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration and/or repair to buildings, equipment and wooden structures (e. g. , doors, windows, walls, woodwork, floors, partitions, stairways, furniture, door closures), performs spot roof repair and installs security devices, and locks.
• Performs maintenance, replacement, minor installation and repair of electrical equipment (e. g. , light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, electrical circuits, emergency generator, fire alarms, intercoms, fans, radios, televisions, meters).
• Performs maintenance, replacement, minor installation and repair of plumbing equipment (e. g. , water and steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, sinks, bathtubs, heating, and air conditioning, piping, drinking fountains).
• Operates machine tools and welding equipment in making repairs to metal parts and equipment; assists in repair and maintenance of interior and exterior maintenance equipment and other specialized equipment.
• Performs routine grounds maintenance and general labor (e. g. , removes snow and ice with shovel or powered snow removal equipment; mows, weeds and cleans lawns and flower beds; maintains parking lots; delivers supplies; assists with minor building constructions). Operates all necessary light equipment such as mowers, skid loaders, forklifts, snowplow, and hand power tools etc. Will operate a vehicle in safe and lawful manner while performing work related duties.
• Assists in painting and/or performs minor painting of fixtures, rooms, buildings, signs and equipment; patches plaster and prepares surfaces for painting; assists in masonry work. Performs interior custodial duties upon request (e. g. , mops, sweeps, washes walls and windows).
• On continuous basis, inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs or replacements and performs systematic and routine preventive maintenance of assigned area. Keeps records of work completed, materials and other related documentation. To share 24 hour on-call responsibilities with other designated maintenance personnel.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years' experience in a maintenance related position preferred.

• Must have knowledge of:

• Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Certificate eligible, if applicable.
• Must obtain and maintain any training, licenses, registration or certification mandated by the Board (Positive Supports First Training, CPR and First Aid Certification, etc. )
• If required by the position, you must maintain a current driver's license in your residing state for the purpose of transporting individuals who are receiving services and/or operation of a Board owned vehicle.
• Employee must possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record as established by Board policy and must provide proof of liability insurance per Board procedure.
• All new employees must have medical examination and a one-step PPD test to determine fitness for duty. Initial medical examination must be completed within 30 days of employment. One-step PPD must be completed prior to providing direct care services.
• The employee is required to submit to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. Pre-employment results shall test negative in accordance with Board policy and procedure and any applicable state and/or federal law.
• Receipt of satisfactory criminal background reports in accordance with ORC 3319. 39, ORC 5123. 081 and OAC 5123-2-02, as applicable. Must receive a satisfactory criminal background report from the County Sheriff of employee's permanent address.
• Receipt of acceptable Ohio Department of DD Abuser Registry, Attorney General's Office Ohio Offender Watch/Sex Offender Registry, System for Award Management, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Exclusions:
  OIG, and Office of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections Offender Search as a condition of employment and yearly thereafter.
• Must be able to lift, carry and move individuals who are receiving services, including children, adolescents and adults, in a safe manner according to in-service training unless reasonable accommodation has been made. Must be able to lift, carry and move office supplies and equipment required for day-to-day operations.
• Must be able to interact using appropriate and necessary techniques with persons who may display aggressive behaviors and/or provide special health care needs to individuals with developmental disabilities.
