Design Engineering Intern - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
At BWXT, our interns perform challenging tasks in their field of study while developing and delivering unique solutions for use in a nuclear environment. A BWXT internship not only provides valuable on the job training but allows you to be a part of something bigger!
BWXT offers paid internships along with a housing stipend for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Barberton, OH. Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks. At the end of the internship, each intern has the opportunity to present their completed work/ assigned projects to the leadership team.
Responsibilities:
Provide assistance in thermal hydraulic and structural analyses using hand calculations as well as computer simulations.
May be asked to provide engineering assistance with flow testing activities at the test facility.
Thermal hydraulic analyses may include pressure drop, velocity and heat transfer in both single and multi-phase environments.
Structural analyses may include pressure sizing, static gravity loading, fatigue, crack growth and brittle fracture of pressure vessels and their associated internals.
Analyses will support new designs and provide resolution to fabrication issues of existing designs.
All analysis and calculations are thoroughly documented in design reports, memos. etc.
Requirements:
Successful candidates must be currently enrolled in an ABET accredited mechanical engineering program.
Students must be at a Junior standing or above at the time the internship begins
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
US citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position
