Location: Port Washington, NY (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office)

Position Overview: Reporting to our VP of Finance, we are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Oversees account reconciliations; produces accurate monthly financials
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Prepares financial analysis of P&L & Balance sheet accounts
Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures; knowledge of Microsoft 365 a plus
Work on monthly brand P/L and analyze variances vs. proforma
Participates in forecasting and budgeting
Ensures sales tax filings and survey's are filled timely
Works with team for external audits
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the CFO if necessary
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MBA/CPA a plus
8 years of experience in accounting
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Awareness of business trends
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like ERP system, Microsoft 365QuickBooks, T&E systems, share point and Microsoft Teams
Advanced MS Excel skills including Formulas, V-lookup and pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Strong communication, both written and verbal
Superior organizational skills, detail oriented, must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work independently and in a dynamic, high energy, team-oriented atmosphere.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft office
Industry knowledge a plus
