About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive locum Associate or Senior Editor to lead and help shape the Solid Earth area of the journal, covering topics such as geochemistry, geophysics, geodynamics, geomorphology and resources.
However, candidates with backgrounds in any area of Earth Science are welcome to apply, particularly if they have broader geoscientific interest and understanding.
The position is offered on a full-time basis for an initial period of 9 months with the possibility of extension and will be located in our London or US offices.
All employees will be expected to be based in the office in line with Springer Nature's hybrid working policy.
Nature Reviews editors:

Commission narrative reviews and opinion pieces.
Work closely with authors throughout the writing and revision process by providing feedback on synopses, developmentally editing first drafts, line-by-line editing the final manuscript pre-acceptance, and developing ideas for figures and other display items.
Organize and manage peer-review.
Write Research Highlights and other editorial content.
Liaise extensively with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences, virtually or in-person.
The ideal candidate will have:

A PhD in any aspect of Earth science, preferably within solid Earth (seismology, volcanology, geophysics, geochemistry, etc.).
Demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language.
Strong writing ability.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Keen attention to detail.
Ability to absorb new areas of research and identify new developments and research trends in fields beyond their immediate speciality.
Willingness to travel to meet scientists, learn about their work and advocate for the journal.
