JOB SUMMARY

Join our dedicated team as a Senior Fleet Technician, where your expertise will ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, and cost-efficient. You will conduct high-quality preventive maintenance inspections and perform expert repairs, all aimed at minimizing breakdowns and enhancing fleet reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct thorough inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, adhering to time standards to maximize safety and reliability.
Execute FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Perform quality preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide range of fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
Respond promptly to Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and address any concerns efficiently.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications across various systems (e.g., engines, transmissions, electrical, HVAC).
Document all maintenance and repair work accurately on work orders.
Mentor and guide junior technicians (Fleet Technician I and II) to help them grow in their roles.
Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of Fleet Management.
Utilize electrical testing meters and possess knowledge of electrical controls and systems.
Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.

Experience

Technical training in Medium/Heavy Duty trucks, with either 2 years of schooling and 4 years of field experience or 5 years of hands-on fleet maintenance experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations

Annual Inspector Certification.
Brake Inspector Certification.
ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks.
EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Exceptional knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
Expertise in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
Strong skills in diagnosing and repairing refrigeration systems.
Thorough understanding of Preventive Maintenance Inspections.
Proficient in welding and cutting techniques.
Moderate computer skills for documentation and diagnostics.
Deep knowledge of DOT (FMCSA) regulations.
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software.
Technicians must provide their own basic tools, while major equipment will be supplied by the company.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for operating equipment and tools.
Occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. and frequent movement up to 20 lbs.
Requires excellent dexterity for handling tools and performing repairs.
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
Physical stamina for climbing, kneeling, bending, and performing repetitive motions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional exposure to various weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and confined spaces.
Work includes non-traditional hours such as evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Infrequent travel may be required for training or corporate needs.
Noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.
