The Physician IT Support Specialist will exemplify:
Team Accountability - Responsible for collaborating with clinical staff and the IT Department to support implementations, optimization efforts, system upgrades, new-user education and going training and coaching for healthcare IT solutions.

Works in conjunction with ancillary departments, provides management and information technology (IT) to identify
areas what current technologies can be applied to improve workflow.

Sacred Trust - Cultivate relationships with both the clinical and IT to facilitate bi-directional communication between IT and clinical staff.

Personal Reverence - for effective and utilization of staff, showing reverence by listening and dignifying others ideals and work. Stewardship of supplies and other resources. Responsible for satisfaction of physicians and staff as relates to the department.

Creative Vitality - documenting education interactions with clinical staff, analyzing and interpreting user experience data to identify coaching/training opportunities, developing training materials, conduction training via classroom and/or one-on-one training sessions and assessing current state workflows to provide recommendations that align with best practices.

• High school graduate or equivalent
• At least three (3) years of clinical work experience in an acute care hospital setting
• At least one (1) year of health care information technology (HCIT) consulting, HCIT learning facilitation, or HCIT support work experience resulting in current and future workflow enhancements and performance improvements
• Strong understanding of hospital and clinic workflows and processes

• Associate or Bachelor's degree
• Experience with Cerner Millennium
• Experience supporting or training Physicians/Advanced Practice Providers

• Serve as departmental liaison between clinical staff and the IT Department to support implementation, optimization efforts and system upgrades.
  • Participate in design work sessions and provide input to design decisions relevant to provider workflows.
  • Coordinate approval and signoff of implementation related deliverables and milestones relevant to provider role.
  • Define and maintain testing scenarios for validation of provider workflows.
  • Participate in end-user testing events serving as the role of a provider and coordinate physician involvement, as needed.
• Provide ongoing end-user support to promote best practices and improve end user experience with IT solutions.
  • Provide follow up, as necessary, to providers on service request resolution.
  • Provide one-on-one sessions with providers to promote adoption of IT solutions.
  • Flex and adjust schedule to align with provider support needs.
• Cultivate relationships with both the clinical and IT to facilitate bi-directional communication between IT and clinical staff.
  • Participate in IT related governance committee and in Change Control
  • Work with CMO and Medical Staff Office to create/edit/review provider wide communications as it relates to IT projects.
• Document education interactions with clinical staff
  • Identify a plan to establish visibility and relationship with provider staff to engage in conversation related provider use and support of relevant IT projects.
  • Log interactions to document education topics covered and follow-ups for action items for any future interactions.
• Analyze and interpret user experience date to identify coaching/training opportunities
  • Utilize Cerner's Advance and Lights On Network metrics to evaluate adoption and performance and identify opportunities for system change or coaching/training.
  • Track, monitor, and communicate impact of how opportunities identified were addressed and resulted in positive outcomes, address any undesirable outcomes.
• Develop training materials.
  • Develop provider-centric training documentation for new software solutions or new workflow changes.
  • Define and maintain patient data profiles and other training domain related tasks specific to provider workflows to ensure optimal training experience.
• Conduct training via classroom and/or one-on-one training sessions.
  • Coordinate communication and scheduling of provider education events, track and monitor attendance to ensure successful provider adoption.
  • Work with Medical Staff Office for on-boarding strategies and education for new providers.
  • Conduct in-classroom or virtual classroom training sessions to educate or re-educate providers on IT solutions or workflows.
  • Determine appropriate use of "learning-lab" based training events and execute plan to support learning lab approach.
  • Develop and execute plan to address any gaps identified during training events.
• Assess current state workflows to provide recommendations that align with best practices.
  • Round in clinical departments to observe provider workflows and answer any ad hoc questions related to IT systems.
  • Document new workflows and update existing workflows to reflect changes in clinical practice.
  • Bring any questions/comments/concerns back to CMO/IT Representative and relay answers back to clinical staff.
• Transition Ownership of Cerner Adoption Services deliverables.
  • Participate in project activities as included in scope of Cerner Adoption Services engagement, I including education, shadow, and feedback sessions.
  • Take ownership of deliverables, such as playbooks, data analysis documents, communication plans, and other project related outcomes.
  • Attend all training conducted by Cerner Adoption services; participate in learner assessment, engage in future continued education recommendations (such as CHC, Cerner Illuminations, etc. )
• Has strong understanding of EHR functionality capability
• Engages in Regulatory meetings and updates to provide guidance to stay in compliance
• Has strong understanding of the Information Technology tools and impact on patient care
• Engages in department meetings
