Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a operator in Artesia, NM, who will be responsible for the production and manufacturing of products, daily quality control activities associated with production, tracking and maintaining raw material inventories, meeting shipment and delivery schedules, receipt handling via truck and rail, following the facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained, and HollyFrontier EH & S policies are understood and followed under close and frequent supervision.

Job Duties

Assists with sample gathering of elevated-temperature materials (primarily asphalt)
Performs visual tank gauging to verify automatic systems.
Performs general plant cleaning.
Assists with maintenance tasks and light mechanical duties (pumps, valves, oil checks, etc.)
Conducts opening and closing of valves for production.
Loads and unloads trucks and railcars.
Assists with activities in elevated-height work areas via stairs or ladders.
Prepares paperwork involving basic math skills.
Identifies any hazards or potential hazards connected to the assigned job and familiarizes self with all products and chemicals being handled by reading the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
Completes all necessary paperwork in maintenance events, including but not limited to, safe work and hot work permits, forklift, and front-end loader inspections.
Completes the necessary paperwork required for task responsibilities, such as Bill of Ladings, production batch sheets, operator logbooks, and gauge readings.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superiors, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of one to two years of relevant work experience as it pertains to the job duties listed above is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a High school Diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and basic computer skills, mechanically inclined and ability to operate a forklift, tractor, and/or man-lift; basic knowledge, understanding, and ability to comply with all Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures, including use of tools (hand tools and power tools) and other equipment such as shovels and rakes and operation(s) of forklift, tractor, or man-lift. Completed all required certifications and training for job level showing ability to perform basic tasks with no direct supervision, perform more complex tasks under direct supervision, and have completed the first year EH&S training. Basic reading and writing skills, and ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.

Work Conditions

Field-based. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Subject to temperatures and weather. Must be available to work a flexible schedule (e.g., overtime, weekends, and holidays, rotating shifts).
