Why does the job exist?

The primary purpose of the Training & Staff Development Specialist - Advanced position is to plan and administer training programs that improve the skills and knowledge of stakeholders in the workforce system who frequently request technical assistance and professional development training(s).

How does it get done?

The Training & Staff Development Specialist - Advanced will do the following:
• Assess training needs through surveys, interviews and/or consultations with stakeholder groups requesting training(s)
• Research, design and develop curriculum and course content, online learning modules, course materials, and training manuals
• Review training materials from multiple sources and choose appropriate materials
• Deliver training to NM DWS staff, and customers using a variety of instructional techniques.
• Assist in evaluating and collecting data on training programs
• Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment
through the Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) system

Customers include: NMDWS staff, Workforce Connection Centers (WCC), Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDB), Businesses, and Employers

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in training, staff development, designing courses, and/or producing instructional aids/materials. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
